Την Παρασκευή 1η Δεκεμβρίου 2023 είχαμε τη χαρά και την τύχη να δεχτούμε στο Δ. Σχ. Καμαρίου την επίσκεψη εκπροσώπου του Συλλόγου Ελληνικής Ιερακοθηρίας, που, σε συνεργασία με την Παγκόσμια Ομοσπονδία Ιεροκοθηρίας και Προστασίας Αρπακτικών Πτηνών (ΙΑF) έχει διαμορφώσει ένα ειδικό πακέτο ενημέρωσης για όλες τις βαθμίδες εκπαίδευσης που για πρώτη φορά Πανελλαδικά θα εφαρμοστεί στην Κορινθία, αρχής γενομένης από το σχολείο μας! Κατά την επίσκεψή του ο κος Παναγιώτης Γιαννάκαινας, κάτοικος Αρχαίας Σικυώνας Κορινθίας, φροντιστής και εκπαιδευτής αρπακτικών πτηνών, αλλά και μέντορας του ΣΕΙ στον Νομό Κορινθίας και την ευρύτερη Βόρεια Πελοπόννησο, πραγματοποίησε μια εξαιρετική παρουσίαση για την Τέχνη της Ιεροκοθηρίας και την ιστορία της στον Ελλαδικό χώρο, επεσήμανε το γεγονός ότι έχει αναγνωριστεί από την UNESCO ώς πολύτιμο στοιχεία/μνημείο της άυλη πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της ανθρωπότητας, που εκτός από μία παραδοσιακή θηρευτική τέχνη, έχει ευεργετικές κοινωφελείς συνέργειες για την κοινωνία (π.χ. προάσπιση δημόσιας υγείας λόγω μείωσης των πληθυσμών των τρωκτικών, βιολογικής καταπολέμησης και μείωσης αγροχημικών στις καλλιέργειες, κ.ά.).

Οι μαθητές/τριες και οι εκπαιδευτικοί είχαμε την ευκαιρία να έρθουμε σε επαφή με εκπαιδευμένα εκτρεφόμενα αρπακτικά πτηνά και α) να πληροφορηθούμε την ειδική σχέση ανθρώπου-αρπακτικού πτηνού στα πλαίσια της συγκεκριμένης τέχνης  β) να συνειδητοποιήσουμε την ανάγκη για σεβασμό των αρπακτικών πτηνιών και ότι αυτά δεν αποτελούν κατοικίδια (pet) γ) να αναγνωρίσουμε την πεειβαλλοντική/οικολογική αξία και ρόλο των άγριων αρπακτικών πτηνών, τα κοινά είδη και τις απειλές που αυτά συναντούν στην φύση και δ) να ενημερωθούμε για τις σωστές και ασφαλείς ενέργειες σε περίπτωση εύρεσης ενός τραυματισμένου άγριου αρπακτικού πτηνού, αναδεικνύοντας την έννοια του Εθελοντισμού και της Κοινωνικής/Περιβαλλοντικής Ευθύνης και πολλά άλλα!
