Κόκκινο πανί είναι για πάνω από 3.000 κυνηγούς στη Θράκη ο υπουργός Περιβάλλοντος και Ενέργειας Θεόδωρος Σκυλακάκης, ο οποίος αποφάσισε μονομερώς την απαγόρευση κυνηγιού σε όλο τον Εβρο.
Ο υπουργός προχώρησε στην απαγόρευση κυνηγιού όχι μόνο στις περιοχές που κάηκαν και περιμετρικά αυτών, αλλά σε όλο τον νομό, προκαλώντας την οργισμένη αντίδραση των περίπου 3.000 κυνηγών, όπως αποτυπώθηκε και στις πρόσφατες περιφερειακές εκλογές, με την ήττα του εκλεκτού της κυβέρνησης και τη νίκη του «αντάρτη» περιφερειάρχη.
Παρά τις έντονες διαμαρτυρίες των κυνηγών, ο κ. Σκυλακάκης επιμένει, αν και δεν έχει ληφθεί στο παρελθόν ανάλογο μέτρο καθολικής απαγόρευσης σε Εύβοια, Ρόδο, Πάρνηθα και Βοιωτία, όπου επίσης κάηκαν το περασμένο καλοκαίρι χιλιάδες στρέμματα δάσους. Σε εκείνες τις περιπτώσεις εντάχθηκαν στην απαγόρευση κυνηγιού μόνο οι καμένες περιοχές.
Για ανεξήγητη και επιλεκτική εμμονή στην απόφαση απαγόρευσης του κυνηγιού σε όλο τον Εβρο καταγγέλλουν τον υπουργό Περιβάλλοντος οι εκπρόσωποι κυνηγετικών συλλόγων, κυνηγοί και όσοι επισκέπτονται τον νομό για κυνηγετικό τουρισμό. Αποδέκτης των διαμαρτυριών έγινε ο πρωθυπουργός Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης κατά την πρόσφατη επίσκεψή του στον Εβρο την περίοδο των αυτοδιοικητικών εκλογών.
Ο πρόεδρος του Κυνηγετικού Συλλόγου Αλεξανδρούπολης Νώντας Τερζής τού επέδωσε επιστολή, στην οποία αναφέρει, μεταξύ άλλων: «Η απαγόρευση της θήρας σε όλη την έκταση του νομού μας προκαλεί την εύλογη αντίδραση των κυνηγών, οι οποίοι βιώνουμε ως άδικη τη χωρίς αιτιολογία απαγόρευση της θήρας σε όλο τον νόμο και πιστεύουμε ότι αποτελεί άνιση μεταχείρισή μας σε σχέση με άλλες πληγείσες περιοχές της Ελλάδας (όπως η Ρόδος, όπου απαγορεύτηκε η θήρα μόνο στις καμένες εκτάσεις)».
Οι κυνηγοί υποστηρίζουν πως μπορούν να ασκήσουν τη δραστηριότητά τους στο Διδυμότειχο και στην Ορεστιάδα, αφού είναι δεκάδες χιλιόμετρα μακριά από το καμένο δάσος της Δαδιάς. Μάλιστα, επισημαίνουν το παράδοξο πως πολλοί κυνηγοί από διάφορα μέρη της χώρας που έρχονται για κυνήγι πουλιών ή λαγού στον Εβρο πηγαίνουν πλέον στη γειτονική Βουλγαρία, που είναι στο ύψος του Δάσους της Δαδιάς, και σε απόσταση λίγων χιλιομέτρων μπορούν ανενόχλητοι να κυνηγούν σε βουλγαρικό έδαφος…
